Building the logo process
•April 1, 2009 • Leave a CommentI’ve finalised the logo that will go on my CV, buisness cards and website. I’m really pleased with the result.
I started off by creating a simple blue textured background. I found a great grunge text and used an overlay layer to lay down the grunge texture ontop of the a plain blue fill.

Grunge texture I used
I wanted to do something that had a lot of energy. In my design sketches I had visioned alot of lasers coming out of a singular point. I used ruler markings to mark out the point of origin for the lasers. Allthough, in the end they didn’t turn out looking like lasers!

With my point of origin set, I used paths and the pen tool to create the lines with a 2px brush.

The lines converging
All I had left to do was create my text. I decided to use Bauhaus 93 as my font. It’s quite plan and easy to read but at the same time it looks unique.

The WordPress Revolution
•March 17, 2009 • Leave a CommentI am now fully working with wordpress! A friend tipped me off about how much more powerful wordpress was in comparison to blogger. So I decided to make the switch in order to support my work better. Speaking of which, my work has been coming along great but my blogging has been sub-par. So we have a lot of catching up to do!
Firstly, I want to talk about how I’m approaching this project. The assignment was given in two parts. The first of which is to create a showreel for my work. The second is to create an attractive CV for potential employers. In the line of work I’m in that means it needs to be very creative and stand out. So what I’m going to attempt with this is to create myself an image.
So, in that spirit, I’ve been working on creating myself a graphic to act as my logo. I will use it on my business cards, my CV and my website. Something that people will see and be able to instantly associate with anything they may have seen me do before.
Here’s what I came up with

An example of my logo graphic on a business card
This is the first draft of the business card. I’m going to finalise and order a batch from http://www.moo.com by the end of the week. The main thing that I’m going to change in the text at the bottom right with my contact details since at the moment it’s clunky and doesn’t look quite right. In my next blog, I will explain the creative process I went through when designing the logo.
That’s all for now!
Buisness Card Planning
•March 11, 2009 • Leave a CommentI’ve been hard at work planning the design of my buisness card. I’ve decided to take advantage of the services that moo.com offers.
This does mean that I need to adhere to their recommendations during my design phase. These are:
Choose up to 50 different images
Hold the Shift key to select multiple files
- We accept gif, png, jpeg and pdf files
- The minimum recommended dimensions are 520 x 348 pixels
- The maximum file size is 50mb
Here’s some of my early sketches:
Sorry for the poor quality image, I’ll take the future shots on a real camara rather than a camara phone!
I’ve been browsing a few websites coming up with ideas for the background design, I want to do something with electricity heres a few images im getting ideas from:
